Once a small fishing village in the Arabian Gulf, Dubai is today one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world. One of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates, Dubai is home to nearly 200 nationalities and offers a truly memorable experience to all visitors. Whether it is by the banks of the Creek, or at the top of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, Dubai lives and breathes a sense of possibility and innovation. And with an unparalleled coastline, beautiful desert and magnificent cityscapes, memories are just waiting to be made here.
More carriers than ever are flying to the award-winning Abu Dhabi International Airport. The emirate has a well-planned road system and getting around is easy. Taxis are reasonably priced and can be flagged down or booked, with public transport buses being modern, air-conditioned, reliable, and cost-effective. You can also drive yourself, with fantastic infrastructure featuring well-marked roads in English and Arabic. You’ll find all major car rental companies in Abu Dhabi, plus a few local options, but more reputable firms generally have more reliable vehicles and a greater capacity to help in an emergency. Recognised as one of the safest cities on earth, Abu Dhabi’s virtually crime-free environment and well-organised emergency services offer peace of mind.
Places in Dubai are derived from their natural features. For instance, Al Baraha district is a spacious land that has a mild weather and, so, is visited by people during summer. Al Muteena has a clay soil and Al Hamriyah is so called because it was inhabited by people from Sharjah who belong to a district in Sharjah with the same name. Also, Al Mankhoul was called after the great number of date palms that the district has.
The Emirate of Dubai is the second largest of the seven United Arab Emirates but has the largest population with over 3.33 million inhabitants as of Sept.2019. Dubai’s cityscape is always transient and ever-changing with its constant urge to construct bigger and better than before. If there was a Palm Island, Nakheel thought of the World Island. Burj Al Arab was eclipsed when Burj Khalifa cropped up.
